Website delivery and security

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, provided by Cloudflare, Inc. When a page is requested, Cloudflare processes technical connection data, including the IP address, requested address and connection information. This enables delivery and protection against attacks. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.

Cloudflare operates a global network. Data may be processed outside the EU, including in the United States. Contractual safeguards, including provisions for international transfers, are described in the Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum. Cloudflare provides information about the data it processes and retention in its privacy policy.

The website uses no analytics or marketing services of its own. Fonts, photographs and video preview images are served locally through the website hosting.

Email enquiries

If you contact Alfred by email, your email address, message and any details you provide are processed to handle your enquiry. Email continues to be hosted by webgo. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry concerns entering into or performing a contract; otherwise, it is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for responding to your enquiry.

The information is deleted once the enquiry is complete and it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention obligations or legitimate grounds require further storage.

Conversation preparation and clipboard

The optional conversation preparation creates an email draft only in your browser. The website does not transmit these inputs to a server or store them persistently. An email link passes the draft to your mail application only when you select it. You decide whether to send it there. Copy controls write the displayed address or draft to your clipboard only when you select them.

News and local storage

To avoid marking articles you have already read as new, the website saves each article’s reading status in your browser’s Local Storage. This data is not transmitted to a server or used for advertising or visitor profiles. It remains until you clear the website’s data in your browser. If local storage is blocked, the website continues to work; reading status is then remembered only during the page visit.

YouTube and external sources

The embedded playing-philosophy video loads only when you choose to play the excerpt. Until then, only a locally hosted image and text are shown. After your click, the browser connects to YouTube through youtube-nocookie.com. The provider for users in the European Economic Area is Google Ireland Limited. Your IP address and playback data are processed, and processing outside the EU is possible.

Activation is based on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Selecting “Close video” ends the embed; this does not undo processing that has already occurred. Further information is available in Google’s privacy policy. Alternatively, you can open the video directly on YouTube using the source link.

Links to clubs, press reports and other external sources open the respective operators’ websites. Their privacy notices apply when you visit them.

Your rights

Subject to the statutory conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. For these requests, contact Alfred at the email address above.

You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for Schleswig-Holstein is the Independent Centre for Data Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD).
